What is a Direct Support Professional?
Our Staff is Always Paid for Training and Certification
All full-time and part-time employees are paid for training, onboarding, and for completing the required paperwork involved with any position. When certification is required, CIS will cover the cost of any associated fees, above and beyond regular pay. This may include nurse registration certification, 75 hours of 1163 training certification, first aid, CPR, bloodborne pathogens certification, and nurse delegation, as examples. We pride ourselves on our reputation for being a premier provider of quality training for supported living staff.

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
At CIS, we pride ourselves on pursuing the goal of inclusive living for all we serve and our staff that support them. We believe that the best kind of culture is one where individuals can celebrate their differences while simultaneously providing care to others.
We are dedicated to supporting and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce. We are lucky to have a melting pot of unique characteristics, backgrounds, thoughts, ideas, cultures, values, and histories for all of the people that we work with and for. Our commitment to diversity prevents us from discriminating on the basis of sex, race, color, ancestry, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, mental or physical disability, gender identity and expression, results of genetic testing, or service in the military. Equal employment opportunity applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including hiring, placement, training, promotion, compensation, leave of absence, transfer, layoff, recall, and termination.
Additional Insurance can Reduce Financial Hardship
No matter how careful people are, life happens. That’s why CIS wants our employees to be prepared. CIS has included paid Long Term Disability insurance in our robust package of benefits effective August 1, 2021. This Long Term Disability insurance is offered to all salaried, full-time, and part-time employees free of charge.
We also offer a variety of supplemental insurance options at a reduced rate, including short-term disability, cancer insurance, accident insurance, and life insurance through our supplemental insurance broker. As employees reach eligibility, our benefits and payroll team will explain each option and the associated costs through comprehensive one-on-one enrollment meetings.

Retirement Plans Help you Prepare for the Future
CIS offers a robust 401(k) plan that allows employees to contribute to their retirement savings using pre-tax funds once they have been with CIS for one year. We also offer the option of contributing to a ROTH 401(k), which requires the plan member to pay taxes on each contribution. Withdrawals are then tax-free, and associated regulations around withdrawals are usually more flexible. Each option is associated with restrictions, tax implications, and possible fees when funds are removed, even after age 65. Employees should talk with our benefits and payroll administrator to get all the details before deciding on the plan that is right for them.
Get Paid Time Off
All employees are eligible for Paid Time Off (PTO) based on the hours worked and tenure. PTO may be used for paid sick leave, paid vacation time, or paid personal days. Each staff member begins accruing PTO from the moment they start working.
Many different shifts are available, so we may be able to create a schedule that accommodates unique employee needs. While we aren’t always able to accommodate every scheduling request, our team tries to create situations that help each employee maintain a healthy work/life balance.
We enjoy recruiting and retaining quality employees who will serve as good citizens and positive role models to the vulnerable adults in our care.
